Innovation Instructor (full-time)
Position Description:
Teaching Innovation Courses for ShanghaiTech Students
Working closely with the teaching team of ShanghaiTech University professors, the Dean of the School of Entrepreneurship and Management, and other lecturers, Innovation Lecturers will be an integral part of the School of Entrepreneurship and Management; contributing to the Undergraduate and Graduate courses. Innovation Lecturers will lead two discussion sections of 15 students per semester, offer individualized instruction to his/her students, as well as participate (and co-teach) in larger sections of the Innovation curriculum.
Teaching Executive Education Innovation Courses
Innovations Lecturers will also be facilitators of the joint ShanghaiTech University/THNK School for Creative Leadership Executive Education Program. They will undergo THNK-sponsored training and contribute to the translation of materials into Chinese thereby beginning the process of creating ShanghaiTech’s own curricular materials.
Supporting Innovation Activities
Innovation Lecturers will also help design and implement programs to support and promote creativity and innovation among students, faculty and researchers. They will have the opportunity to direct various types of lecture series, taking responsibility for recruiting and coordinating speakers, publicizing events, recording and archiving talks, and making related materials available to their students. They are expected to develop and maintain a network of individuals in China and elsewhere who are making significant local contributions to creativity and innovation, provide mentorship and oversight to students engaged in creativity and innovation activity, support faculty-led curricular initiatives to nurture student creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
Qualifications:
B.A. (in any field): required
Masters Degree: required
Bilingual (Chinese/English): required
Teaching Innovation: Two to Five years of experience (show evidence of success in college-level teaching and executive education, both in small seminars and in larger lectures. Experience coaching groups of students and mentoring on an individual basis is preferred.
